Possibly. Why would you want to amplify the signal? If it's digital cable, generally you will either get a picture or not -- the digital nature of the transmission precludes the usual problems that analog signals had that posed the need for amplifiers.

If your tv is getting a signal but is just fuzzy then it is more then likely electrical interference or somebody put a staple or nail through the wire. A digital signal will either have a picture or not. I would recommend running a new wire or "cleaning things up".
