Coming up with a girl's party that everyone enjoys is not easy. Selecting the best party games for girls is integral to their success.
Choosing which party games to have fun with will depend on a few factors:
- whether boys are attending
- how many people are invited
- whether there is a theme
- whether the attendees want to play any games in particular
When making the decision of whether boys can come, it might be worth bearing in mind that girls are sometimes shy when boys are present.
In addition, as girls usually grow up more rapidly than boys, they may prefer games which are calmer and less physically gruelling! Of course, this depends on which girls are attending, as many girls may prefer running around to having a tea party, and whether the birthday girl, if it's a birthday party, wants boys to be invited!
A good idea would be to ask the main girl what sorts of party games for girls she would like to play and whether any of her friends like other sorts of games. This will certainly give you some inspiration.
Smaller groups of girls are more likely to already know each other, but for larger groups it may be a good idea to include some icebreaker party games at the start to get the party started and allow them to get to know each other. Indoor party games are better suited for smaller groups, whereas outdoor party games are better for large groups. Treasure hunt games can be enjoyed inside and outside, as can hide and seek, and all of the traditional party games.
Where there is a theme to the party, it will have an effect on what games should be enjoyed. There may be some additional games that are suitable for a specific theme, e.g. 'the hidden teddy bear' for a teddy bear picnic theme or 'wink murder' for a mystery party theme. However, irrespective of the theme, it's a good plan to involve the attendees in deciding what games they want to play and then getting them to work out how the rules of the game can be changed to suit the theme.
At the end of the day, the success of the party games will depend on whether the children interact with each other and have fun. Involving the children in choosing the games will ensure that anyone who is not enjoying themselves has a chance to suggest a game they would like to play.
A top tip for ensuring the party runs to plan is to coordinate the games before the party. Some of the best games have been where the attendees were notified of the theme several days before the party, and been asked to bring food suitable to the theme, wear a costume or create a character that they will be during the course of the party. This ensures everyone's involved and looking forward to the party even before it arrives!

Flatlanders is the nicer of the things we from Wisconsin used to call those from Illinois.
They too used to invade our beautiful scenic woods lakes and parks ruining it for those of us fortunate enough to not be in the armpit of the nation.
The more common term for them was FIB; Fuckin' Illinois Bastards, though when forced to interact with 'em we'd tell 'em it was Friendly Illinois Brethren.
