The British, Captain James Cook is named as the person that founded Australia but the Aborigine people have been there for thousands of years 1789 I believe

the history books show that Capt Cook is the one who landed in Australia in 1770, but Dutch explorers landed a number of years before in Western Australia. But it was the English who ended up settling here first ( after the Aborigines ). Australia Government is based on the Westminster System style of Government .
