I remember Sydney as being absolutely beautiful. I'll never forget the sight of that Opera House as long as I live. But I was only there once many years ago so I would defer to residents or more frequent visitors on the point made in the article that: "Sydney depends so much upon the harbour to cover up its litany of sins - the only two memorable spaces are the Opera House and Darling Harbour." Because in all honesty, that's basically all I remember. Oh, and the Taronga Zoo;)

As I remember it, it's very beautiful. How could it not be with all those beaches?
-
I hear it is beautiful, but I have not been there myself.

I am a Sydney girl and each time I fly home I shed a tear, it is such a beautiful city. Google it and see for yourself...

I wouldn't know, I've never been there.

compared to many many overseas cities its far from ugly at all ... yes it has a few not so pretty spots but again a lot less than many many overseas cities. The big difference is that Sydney siders are not anal about their city unlike some overseas people are about their cities ... yes I did grow up in Sydney during the 50's,60's,70's and compared to then and now its come on in leaps and bounds .

There are some ugly sides, mostly ruined by immigrants. But most of Sydney is beautiful. I would definitely avoid some of the suburbs.
