  • yes. i was a concert classical pianist and im planning on going back into music professionally as a rock keyboardist and singer. ive played keys for 30 years. it only took a few years to getting "good". i started entering major youth competitions at age 8, after playing for four years. but i feel i didnt get really "good" until i was in high school ~ after years of daily practice i felt my chops were solid and i had enough mastery of technique to focus more on the nuances of the tonal palette and letting the music really flow. just a side note on piano ~ i think its the easiest instrument to learn to play. but its the most difficult to master. i still dont consider myself one three decades later~ theres always room for improvement.
  • I had been playing guitar for about 10 years before I landed paying gigs and session work. I gigged quite regularly for about 5 years, but came on hard times financially. I don't play much any more, mainly because my current job keeps me on the move so much that I can't land consistent work. Well, there's that and the fact that I'm a lot more withdrawn from society than I ever was before.
