  • It is important to note that peoples IP addresses can change, and blocking IP's will not solve the problem unless you wish to lock-out an entire IP-range and prevent a huge range of users from gaining access to the website. (Except for people who are determined and use walk-arounds.) It is possible to detect the IP address on someones computer using Java; but this can be blocked or fooled. ----- Just sit back, relax, ignore the Chubb and let the mods delete him. :-)
  • If they're connecting via a proxy, yes, it's quite possible. I won't go into details, because a certain someone is watching, but hiding behind a proxy can be still allow your real IP to be resolved. Additionally, AB for example, can easily set up filters allowing only access from a non proxy. They either don't have time, are not interested or can't work it into their site at present. Most "anonymous" surfers like to use free public proxies, which they bounce through. In many cases, there are freely available, updated lists of these working proxies. All you have to do is implement an IP ban of those servers. They're in most cases, not ISP's so it really wouldn't affect traffic to this site.
