I am not a kid. As an adult, I use these terms:

Over age 16 male: Young man or man

Over age 16 female: young woman, woman

Under age 16: Girl or boy

I never use dude or chick. I find them abit derogatory and either too old, too much over used, too "Eminem" or something.

I use lady or young lady often, and also gentleman if the person is over age 10-12 and nice and polite. I usually use these when being formal or kidding someone.

    For who?

I am a Dude, man, boy, guy and gentleman. I would use any of these phrases for other men.

I don't refer to people as "chicks". I might use woman, girl or lady for women.

It depends on situation: When a boy/girl reaches the age of majority in her country, he/she is juridical a man/woman. But they're often still at school for some years, and stll called boys/girls. When working, many of them have to be considered "girls" if they have works like waitress girl/hotel girl/cleaner girls/kitchen girls/restaurant girls/maid girls/nanny girls, until they're at least 25-30 or something.

  • depends.
if he's wearing the average stereotype summer/california look, then it's a dude or a guy. otherwise i use man (or guy).
lady if she's nice to me or i'm simply picking her out of a crowd. woman if she looks less than pleasant to the people she's around. and girl if she's my age or younger.

I say, "Young Lady", and "Girrrrl"! "Boy". It I'm using gentleman I'm normally trying to get my 2 son's to act like gentleman, or I may compliment a young man for being a gentleman.
I never use the word chick or dude.

I'm a girl and I'm not from the "surfing kowabunga county" but I tend so call everyone dude, or a say, "dude's and babes" or "dudes and dudettes" or "boy and girl" "man and woman" I never use chick though, it's just, not rad enough for me, cuz, whenever I say it, it just makes my tongue feel weird. That word does not belong in my mouth!
