Yes, when I was in college, we often played quartet pieces and even some arrangements that were scored for more than 4 parts. I believe ensemble work is very important. Many people that sound good playing by themselves have trouble playing with others in an ensemble. Ensemble work helps be more aware of the "beat," but more importantly, it teaches us to listen to what the others are doing and how to "blend" with them to make four guitars sound like one thought!

I've only played duets with my teacher. I wish I could have played with others, but I was taking private lessons only. Piano is my main instrument.
