  • That is actually a pretty good idea. The reason why sex offenders have to register is because the recidivism rate for such offenses is extremely high, so it is justifiable to warn the community of the risk. I don't have exact statistics, but I would guess that DUI recidivism is probably pretty high as well, thus the same rationale would apply.
  • That would make them open to derision or better known as "Excessive Punishment" The sex offender is "Limited" to a sign on their doorway saying "No person under 18 allowed" and they are on a public database, but you have to go and SEARCH that database. So while it IS public, not many will look. Thus, tagging a DUI drivers license plate would be the same as a sex offender being forced to wear a sign saying "I previously molested a child" It would result in public humiliation and that's not useful in punishment. PLus, after a couple of DUI's they lose their license, and if caught again, then it's jail time or worse.
