Neither. I would hire the people most qualified, no matter what their age, since I am a professional.
-
Older people for experience and the are more reliable and the can put in a good shift. where youngerpeople cant do it as well, although there are exceptions
-
Depends on what they are doing.
-
I AM a boss and, after hiring two 20's recently: one stole from me and the other was a 'gang' person, I will only hire 50s+ from now on! learned my lesson!
-
I'd hire the right person for the job. Age wouldn't be important to me, just capacity and qualifications.
-
That would depend on who is the less likely to sue for age discrimination.
-
Pretty much depends on the job, but people with experience (older people) can jump in faster, and usually have fewer distractions.
-
Younger because there easier to exploit, but then I'd feel bad and hire some old person as backup but then they would ask for things like benefits so id have to let them go and blame the economy.
-
I often have to hire people at work and I am always very fair when choosing who will get the job. I am a very tough interviewer and as long as the candidate did well and they have the relevant degree they will get the job regardless of age, I don't always look for experience because a lot of candidates that apply for a job are newly qualified and therefore if I always looked for experience I would be excluding a certain group.
-
I am the boss that does the hiring. I tend to hire younger people, because I seldom have older people apply. Both have worked well in the past.
-
older, kids play too much, but then they have to have a chance somewhere, so what do you do?
-
Younger would be cheaper..older would have more on-the-job experience. I'd go for experience. That learning curve will kill you when you're in a time crunch and everyone has to hit the deck running. You can't afford "learning-curve" mistakes no matter how brilliant, talented and energetic the younger person may be.
-
I would hire older people. They are more loyal and more dependable. The physically challenged are also a great people group to hire. This is not only my opinion, but is based on research.
-
Older people, They tend to be more conscientious, more reliable and seldom miss work. They seem to value their jobs more than younger people and are more dedicated and responsible. Not that there aren't young people with those qualities you just see it more in older workers.
-
I was and never allowed age to become a factor. My only concern was if they could do the job and were they dependable.
-
I did the hiring for a company and found that both older and younger had different good qualities... the company I worked for leaned toward younger... But I was not allowed to say that due to legal reasons...
-
Age wouldn't matter. There was a young person in our office last year that told me he ran into a lot of age discrimination recently. He said many companies prefer older, experienced employees. The ones less likely to quit and move on.
-
It would depend on how much experience was required and the pay scale I could offer them. It would really depend on which person seemed like the best fitting candidate; but if it came down to 2 of them and 1 was young and one more mature I think I would lean towards the older person because in my experience, the older people I hired in my time more responsible.
