It is far from emo. The main 2 piercings that many view as emo are snakebites and eyebrow. The vertical tragus looks very cute on the 2 people I've seen it on. But like every piercing it depends on the persons facial characteristics and the shapes of their ears. Also vertical tragus piercings are considered "surface piercings" in the sense that they migrate. Other piercings that fall into this category are eyebrow piercings, nape, Vampire bites, Navel, bridge, and tons others.
