I buy and sell a lot of art online (photographs mostly). That mixed with my reputation, knowledge, built up client list, etc. has allowed me to make enough money to keep buying more art. It's a hobby for me, but it does generate a very good income if I chose to live on it.
Just throwing some art up online and hoping it will sell--I don't think you'll do very well. Selling your own art online? Sell at various places where you meet the public like fairs and shows. Make sure to include your web-site for additional sales to established customers.
I would buy it that way if I could afford it. It usually is displayed very well these days. You need a site with an excellent reputation, of course.
In my experience not very well.
Art can barely type his own name, I seriously doubt he'll sell anything online very well.
I would not think so.
Fraud would be easy to pass for the original.
Art buyers like to "feel" the paintings and check for authenticity.
Online art would not interest me, at all.

Sharona:
I consider myself more of a collector than a seller and I don't sell anything that I create. I love and have a great respect for photography, but I'm only an expert on one photographer who was active in the early 20th century and I only buy and sell a dozen or so photographer's work. I'm happy to give you advice if I can.
