Every town / city is different when it comes to recycling. Where I am they take car batterys and old car oil-it has to be in a clean gallon jug-no water. They burn old oil in a waste oil heater. They take #1 and #2 plastics--any color of glass bottle; linerboard/pasteboard; tin and alum cans;newspaper tied up; any kind of metal; any kind of wood; cardboard;yard waste; old books; eggcartens; shreaded office paper via garbage bag; compost;--usually if you ask them they will help you.
