  • You look at the market for your article. For example, if you wrote an article on fishing, you would look at magazines and e-zines for outdoorsmen and find ones that suit your article. Look for the submission guidelines in the magazine or webpage. In a magazine, I usually find the submission guidelines in the first few pages or the last pages along with the table of contents, the letters to the editor, and the like. Print out your article following the submission format, usually double-spaced and printed on one side of the page. Mail your article. Be sure to include a S.A.S.E--an envelope with your address and a stamp on it--so they can mail you back with a response. In the case of a webzine, send an e-mail to the right address. Make sure you spell everyone's name (including your own!) correctly. You'll have to wait two to six weeks for a response in most cases. If you're talking about a newspaper article, you have to contact the newspaper about being on the newspaper's staff to become a contributor. I hope this helps!
