I went to a few as a teen...they were fun! I don't know that a "conference or retreat can get you closer to God, its really a heart thing.

My 16 yr. old daughter has been to one last summer & loved it! The name of it is Camp Eagle & is near Kerrville, Texas. You would probably love it also!

Liked them. Not so sure about better connection to god - but made some jolly good connections with girls... ;-)

I have attended one before. Oh man they were fake for sure. They planted people in the group and at times one of them will jump up and say they were cured. This is one I heard the man on the stage called up after sometime saying "If anybody had a headache, it is cured now. Please raise your hand" two people raised hand. I looked at them, oh man I can tell. They are using this technique in south asian countries a lot.

I've gone a couple times, I had fun with my cousins but I didn't feel anymore religious when I came back...to be fair I went to it already doubting religion altogether
