You're reading In the Kay Jeweler's Valentine's Day tv commercial, there's an older black married couple in a restaurant, watching a young couple. Is that older black guy Danny Glover? Looks exactly like him.

Just saying no it isn't him, or yes it is him, isn't helpful and leaves me with the same unanswered question. However, if you have some sources that account for your answer, I'd love to know them. So far, since this question came up on a forum I frequent, I've seen as many Yes answers as No answers, but no sources that actually help answer the question.

Well, then you should have asked for sources in your question, not a yes or no question and down rate when your question is answered.
Why not call Kay and ask?

lol, it's common sense to provide sources when answering questions such as this :) And I have already asked Kay, tyvm, and obviously did not receive an answer. And my question still has not been answered, nor did I downrate your 'answer'. I wanted to, and would have, except as a newly registered user, I was already limited and wasn't able to mark it as Not Helpful. Anyway, still seeking an answer from anyone that might have some knowledge on this.
by Rory24 on February 20th, 2007
Since you're new and I have plenty of common sense, let me be the first to tell you, no, it is not common sense to provide more information than is asked. If anything, it is more a courtesy :) For future reference, you will not enjoy your time here if you dole out 'not helpfuls' for responses that answer the question, but don't go above and beyond. You'll be labeled a troll and you don't want that!
Perhaps you'll find this slightly more helpful. Danny Glover's non-movie credits in the IMDb:
--TV commercial for United Nations Development Program
--Print Ad for The GAP (2002)
--TV commercial for Winsor Pilates (2002)
--TV commercial for MCI Long Distance (1/2003)
--Appeared in Michael Jackson's "Liberian Girl" music video
--Radio commercial for Colon Cancer (2005)

You got kinda a rude awakening to you if you're new to AB, Rory, but don't let anyone like littlemissdangerous bother you, most people here are pretty polite & helpful, or at least tell you if they're just guessing on the answer. Do what I do and learn to ignore the ones with chips on their shoulders :P
Anyway, to your question. Funny, that's been a topic in another forum I spend a lot of time in. We also can't come to a conclusion on whether it's him or not. Some have posted pics of Danny Glover from publicity stills and put them side-by-side with the Kay Jewelers guy, and they look totally identical. And yet some pics look just a bit different. On top of that we keep finding news items where Danny Glover shows up at pubblic events sponsored by Kay Jewelers, so that's an interesting piece to the puzzle, tho it proves nothing in and of itself. So I'm hoping you can get a good answer to this 2, then I can share it with my other forum.
I'm with u, just a yes or no doesn't cut it!
by Sian23 on February 20th, 2007
Sian23, I'm not rude, but quite frankly I find it rude that you would imply that I am or that I have a 'chip on my shoulder'--I don't. I endeavor to be helpful (I even called the company for Pete's sake!) and am polite--did you not read my wording and advice on how to successfully get answers out of AB? Properly worded questions ask "who is the actor in X commercial or how can I find out?". I answered the question based on info in the international movie database. He has no credits for the commercial and I don't recall thinking it was him when I saw it. If I'm wrong, I apologize, but that's no reason to attack me. Rory first attacked my 'common sense'. I was merely pointing out that you need to be specific in what you're looking for, not a yes or no question. Since you appear to be new as well, perhaps you should get to know people before labeling them "people like". You don't even know me or you'd know how ridiculous that comment really was.

I accept your apology with the same grace it was given ;) Oh, but before you judge if a person is new or not, you might consider reading their profile to learn about them ;)
by Sian23 on February 21st, 2007
Sian23, MY apology was 100% sincere regarding my answer possibly being wrong (relying on potentially incomplete or refutable IMDb research & having seen the commercial). Not sure how much grace you found in it, but that apology was to Rory if I'm wrong anyway. I apologize to you, only that we've gotten off on the wrong foot.
As for your profile, I said you 'appear' to be new :) I don't expect everyone to read my entire profile. Since you do, apparently, it should go both ways. If you'd checked mine before telling Rory not to bother with 'people like me', blindly stating I have a 'chip on my shoulder' and implying I'm rude, you'd see I get along well with others, proven by positive ratings, comments & ?s. My comment to Rory included helpful AB advice & add'l info & did not deserve your scorn. I'm rarely interpreted as offensive or rude. I prefer polite information exchange & debate. I stand by my advice to Rory. I never maligned anyone, why am I the one apologizing?
