  • yes, the correct ones
  • Popularity is a double edged sword. It can be very draining, demanding and difficult. Ah, look at the alliteration. Speaking from personal experience, I can say yes. If you put people on a pedastal you can look up their skirt or watch them wobble and fall off.
  • Not really. It is a given that some people have been on Answerbag together longer than any one else. They are bound to have a sort of kinship going on, so it may seem to some that they are getting more praise than others.
  • Yes I do, the people who's opinions offend the least number of people get the most praise.
  • I think that the majority of AB-ers do praise certain users either because: a) They are likable / write fantastic answers. b) They are on the website frequently.
  • Sure why not? There are some incredibly intelligent people on AB who give tons of thoughtful/informative/funny responses to questions and comments.
  • I would not say a majority, but more like a minority. Certain people are praised, but that should not be a part of answerbag. I am here for exchange of ideas and because one is popular or not,has no reflection on the quality of questions or answers given. When people are concerned about popularity it becomes a chat room, and not an exchange of knowledge.
  • Its possible, but not necessarily true. I think its more cyclical. Some of the newbies show potential and promise and some of the AB elders like the laurels they're seated on.
  • NO In general they don't I stumbled in here, started answering questions and received ratings that were high, at that time I had no Idea what they were for, or why. Its based on your answers, your responces and your/their sence of humor ;(
  • Yes I feel to a to certain extent they do. It is very difficult on a question that has loads of answers to read every one so i suppose you do tend to read certain people who have good reputations for good answers first. The people that get praised a lot are usually on the site more so obviously become better known This does not mean that less well known people do not write excellent answers or ask excellent questions, because they do. I am sure that the praise will come with time.
  • I leave lots of comments but one thing I all ways do no matter who you are is atleast thank you for your time and advise when it comes to answering one of my questions. I also praises the newbie because there are alot of trolls out there ready to downrate and I feel that maybe postive reinforcement will keeep them.
  • It's bound to happen... the users who are on here regularly and utilize the site are sure to show up everywhere eventually. Most likely they're eloquent writers and *acutally answer* the questions too.
  • As is true with all internet forums, the higher ups have a certain amount of unwritten power. People listen to them more than they do others. The introduction of levels has increased this kind of thinking on answerbag. It makes the "more important people" all the more noticable.
