An elimination would be unwise, but an overhaul is necessary. In the US it does not work, and if something is broken fix it. To deny that it is not working does not help the matter. It should be made affordable to all regardless of social standing.

It would definitely be tough from the get-go, however, I do feel that in the long run it may be beneficial. Here's why Patient's would pay what they could afford, and doctors would learn to live like the rest of us. Not living beyond their means. If they do a good job, their patient's would pay them accordingly, and that would entice them to remain in the top of their class. Top rated Healthcare should be available to all, regardless of health insurance . Yes, hospitals would fall under the same thing. If I can pay $5000 total for a certain type of surgery, the hospital, physician and all involved would split between them as I only have $5000 to pay. Everyone would be more likely to give you the best service, because you are setting the pay rate not them.
