• My favorite memory of him is how in eight years in office, he didn't once pronounce the word nuclear right. We were always waiting for a "nucular" war. Guess it is a republican thing, as both Bushes followed right in his footsteps with that word.

• @TWOG - Can you offer anything beyond fuzzy "God Bless him, he made us proud!" memories about Reagan? What particular Reagan policies did you admire?

• He made people proud to be AMerican after Jimmy Carter made us look weak and largely ruined the economy and gave away the Panama Canel. 15% home mortagages rates the S&L Scandel, he helped unite Germany he bankrupted Russia during the COld war. A geat many things.

• @TWOG - The S&L scandal happened DURING Reagan's tenure. There were two recessions during Reagan term. Home mortgage rates were largely determined by Paul Volker and the Federal Reserve. The Soviet Union was bankrupt in the 1960s; the CIA knew it was a matter of "when", not "if" it would fall. Germany reunited AFTER Reagan left office.

• @TWOG - If you have a 'fuzzy brain' to the extent that you can't remember what happened when (e.g. It was the REAGAN ADMINISTRATION that deregulated S&Ls and caused that crisis), perhaps it would be prudent to admit that you don't know what you're talking about....:-P...

• In fact you hit on something there when I was 5 I heard all sorts of voices in my head. I deduced the only way to stop them was to put a plankard on my brain that says yea who enter here Univited have no hope. Those in fact making it hell, I had no idea what I was doing at the time. Lots of religion in this head of mine I studied many text trying to get rid of the voices finally I had but well the ex happened. Life time of hearing things that were true but not wanting to hear them in the first place my family is blessed with this afflication. So I an crazy or pyshic which ever.

  People will draw unflattering conclusions if you assert things like that President Carter deregulated the S&L industry when historical records indicate that it's not so.
