I was teaching english to a deaf child at a government institution, when a little aboriginal child who knew me came to say hello. Suddenly one of the staff ran up and began screaming at the girl because she had had a shower, and she was supposed to keep her ears dry. Then, in front of me, she slapped the girl across the face. Not only was it a horrible thing to do at its basest level (and illegal), it humiliated the little girl in front of me. I went off at the staff member and told her I would report her. I was only about 19 at the time. It just shocked me beyond belief.

Watched a walking chamber ( hyperbaric chamber) case dive. He partied far too much the night before ( just asking to get a DCS hit) for what we were going to do the next day and sure enough he took a DCS (Decompression Sickness) hit (affliction) at the end of the dive (at the surface). In a nut shell, his blood was foam and it must have felt like a thousand knives being pushed into him. He did recover after 2 days in hospital and chamber therapy. That do it for you FLYxNITE? :)

I saw a Corvette and several other cars run wide coming off the straight at Phoenix International Raceway during a road race in the 70's. All returned to the race, but not the Corvette. I was instructed to cross the circuit and find out what the problem might be. He died of a broken neck when another car and his collided in the dust. Nothing gory just a helmeted man slumped against the shoulder harness.

Once my friend was trying to do a huge jump on his bike (without a helmet which is stupid!) and he came short and his front wheel hit the landing ramp and he went over the handlebars and slid down the ramp face down. He had a mouth full of rocks, several large gashes inside his mouth, and a concussion, all he could remember from that day ws falling into some water, because we went to some water slides earlier that day. He ended up needing surgery for his mouth and had his jaw taped (not wired) shut. I don't think his injuries would be nearly that bad if he had worn a helmet that day.

I carry him to the street and held him while flagging a car to call for help and watched him die in my arms unable to help him. very sad and something I shall never forget. they did catch the boys who did it.
