  • When a dog acts in fear most of the time it is caused by abuse, however there are a couple of other things that can cause this type behavior. Here are some things to do that will help: 1.Don’t raise your voice at or around the dog. 2.Get on the same level as your dog, on your hands and knees then pet and talk to him often. 3.Be patient with him, this is something that will take a lot of time to heal, and even then it will be with the dog for the rest of its life. 4.You have to be confident when around or interacting with the dog. It makes it easy for the dog to feel the same way. 5.You need figure out what happened to him, there is a reason he is showing this behavior 5.Address the cause if of course it's something you can. 6.Last but not least reward him when he does good things, encourage him to get excited, engaged, and playful. The main thing is you have to show the dog that you’re always there to protect and love. No animal should live a life of fear, it’s very hard on them and it’s not healthy. As in humans stress can make life short and hard.
  • although you will be tempted, do not pet your dog or give it any positive attention.....you will actually be rewarding its behavior by doing this....ask your vet if he/she carries 'Stress Away'.....it is a natural stress reliever with chamomile, lavender and other ingredients.....my dog is afraid of thunder.....we give her one of these (chewable) pills and minutes later she is very calm and sometimes falls right to sleep.....hope this helps.....God bless
