  • It depends on your gender, age and size. You know there's actually a formula for working it out? A smidge complex though... To calculate your BMR, or Base Metabolic Rate (calories you chew through just lying still): Men 66 + (13.7 X weight in kg's) + (5 X height in centimetres) - (6.8 X age in years). Women 655 + (9.6 X weight in kg's) + (1.8 X height in centimetres) - (4.7 X age in years). So - a woman, 172cm tall (approx. 5'8"), 30 years old and weighing 60 kilograms (132 lbs) would have a BMR of 1408.6. For a sedentary day, multiply your BMR by 1.2 for: 1690 calories...
