    The voltage regulator is built in the alternator on GM products.If it is faulty ,remove the alternator and take it to a starter,alternator repair shop and have it converted into a "one wire system"Then you run one wire from the alternator to the positive post on the starter. You can also buy the one wire conversion kit from speed shop(ie summit,jegs,etc)
