  • Sorry, but huh? The AFL-CIO is a union. Their members are generally interested in pro-union issues, and the union endorses candidates they think will be pro-union. How does this have anything to do with "OK" or Wal-Mart? --------- Ooops. Ok, I see there are 2 links. I didn't know you could do that! :) Well I partially agree with the union here: Wal-Mart is an employer, that gives them a power advantage with regard to their workers... they can fire a worker who seems resistant. It is inappropriate for an employer to pressure their workers to vote a particular way, because that is exploiting the power difference. It's like any power differential in relationships, there are ethical concerns about power abuse. The union doesn't really have that concern with their own members, in theory, because the union represents the members' interests. Again, in theory.
  • Vote for who ever rocks yer boat. Been in a union for 25 years and still haven't voted for their 'choice' yo...
  • Neither can "tell" their members/employees who to vote for. They just "recommend" certain candidates. Anyone can do this, even churches, but this does not obligate anyone. Only you are in the ballot box, no-one else.
