  • It means, don't get emotional - just deal with it. EDIT The entire term "take it like a man" is so worthless I am not going to use it... however it is true that both men and women can deal with issues without getting emotional. I think there are good and bad sides in learning to *temporarily* hold in your emotions.
  • I prefer to "walk it off" myself.
  • it is some of the crap that parents who might be well intentioned tell their sons to try to get them not to express emotions like pain, sadness, etc or to cry. It has done great harm over the generations in making alot of men stoical, causing them to stuff or contain their emotions until they just BLOW UP! One of the worst clichés a parent can use with a male child. Most women do not want and are not conditioned to "take it like a man" fortunately.
  • I think it means to be stoic, don't let them see you sweat, don't let them know they got to you. As a woman, I have managed this on occasion but I don't think it's a good idea. It isn't healthy to bottle everything up - those emotions are going to explode at some point, or result in all kinds of physical problems like ulcers and high blood pressure.
  • it just means to remain unchanged, dormant if you will, of effects until the objective at hand is finished. Yes women can do it is not a sextist thing and thats the problem with the world is too many "politically correct" people who take things too seriously. But since most MOST not all dont liek to be refered to as take it like a man..the other people simply abide and change it to "take it like a women" ~this has been a recent update by mcmuffin~
  • Yes women can. It is an old fashioned expression pertaining to the fact that boys were brought up never to show emotion in public
  • I know men who can't change their own children's diapers without throwing up!
  • ..What a ridiculous "top answer" in my opinion. I'm really not trying to be mean, but if some people didnt take things in stride and deal with problems internally, we'd all be a bunch of whining babies who, for example, give 4 paragraph answers to simple questions. Please dont lash out personally against my opinion....just take it like a man.
  • what's that old marines slogan? - adapt, overcome, conquer? bottom line is that we all need to adapt ourselves to the everchanging demands of society. we have to perform - we have to attempt to overcome obstacles and achieve our goals. in my opinion, most of us, after we've survived the difficulty, our ego comes unwound and we are maybe a little freer to shed a tear or share our fears with our spouse or priest or god. can women "take it like a man?" by definition, no. but, women can adapt, overcome, and conquer - often, if not usually, more efficaciously than men - in my opinion.
  • It mean suck it up. Don't cry. Show know one how you really feel. It's sad , but most young boys are hold to swallow emotions .
