I've always thought of catching a plane as being like catching a bus, so yes, a taxi or a bus driver.

Ataxi driver with landing skills!

No. I'm sure that I could learn to drive a cab in about 1 day, whereas I'm sure it would take me at least 1 year (training 40 hours a week) or who knows how long to fly an airliner.

Not really. The average new hire major airline pilot has been training, adding ratings, and moving up in equipment ten years before acquiring that position. If you don't go through the military, costs range from about $40,000 - $100,000. The average airline spends hundreds of thousands of dollars training one single pilot throughout his career with them. The average taxi driver gets what, a few hours of training. Just a slight difference?
