Paul Auster should be on your list.
The first author that comes to mind is Ayn Rand who has written several books and I am unsure of how many she wrote.She is a very interesting however this does not indicate that I agree with all her beliefs. I must include Clifford Simak the si/fi author who has written numerous books.This is a difficult question.
Debbie Macomber does a Shop on Blossom Street series I like, and J.A. Jance does a Sheriff Joanna Brady series I like too...
Children's - Ben Baglio does an Animal Ark series that so cute....I even collect them as I'm an animal lover! ha
Laura Childs does a Tea series; there are lots of series writers out there nowadays. I think it is so they can get the reader hooked and then they buy more books - that's my theory any way.
Jane Lindskold. I love her books on wolves and fantasy. I think most of hers are in a series. Each book has the word "wolf" in every title.
Leon Uris and James Michener for stand alone fiction with historical backgrounds.
Chris Bohjalian, stand alone, novels about people not in the mainstream-dowsers, midwives, etc.
Stuart Kaminsky has several differrent series of detective novels set in Russia,1930's LA,Sarasota FL, and others.
Just a few...
There is only one author that I adore to the point where I have bought 5 of his books -- Giles Milton.
They are each seperate, but are all to do with the history of exploration and travel - Big Chief Elizabeth is my favourite of all of them.
Victoria Holt, they're all separate and they are ALL amazing!
Michael Crichton. His books are separate and unfortunately he died last year. :-(
John Steinbeck and William Saroyan are my two favorite authors in that order. Some of their work was based on their own lives and some was pure fiction. The early work of Steinbeck seemed to be related as the stories covered basically the same groups/type of people living in the same area. Those are my favorite books of his. Saroyan wrote about his Armenian upbringing in Fresno, California. Each stands on its own but some carry similar threads. :)
Virginia Andrews (series and seperate)
Charlaine Harris (series)
John Marsden (series)
Richard Laymon (seperate)
Paulo coehlo! Not in series but indeed a great writer!
The other is Thomas yardy !
my favorites are:
John Grisham
Jonathan Kellerman
Clive Cussler
Stuart Woods
Robert Ludlum.
I have read all of his books. The one I liked most was 'The Aquitaine Progression'. My own subjective opinion.
Here is a list of his books. Some are in a series of 3 books or so, even though each book of a series could very well stand alone on its own singular splendor.
.
* The Scarlatti Inheritance (1971)
* The Osterman Weekend (1972)
* The Matlock Paper (1973)
* The Rhinemann Exchange (1974)

* The Chancellor Manuscript (1977)
* The Holcroft Covenant (1978)

.
Some of his books were left incomplete and were completed by Ghost Writers posthumously. These I have not given in the list.
