  • Generally water turtles eat algae, aquatic plants, insects, minnows or feeder goldfish, tadpoles, snails, insect larvae, and worms. As for if they can stay in the sun for a couple of hours. It depends on how hot it is. Most turtles need to warm up their blood and systems to move and digest their food properly. Your best bet would be to get a heating lamp for your turtle. This way your turtle can do as he pleases and what suits his metabolism best. If and when yoiu do so, in an enclosed environment-make sure he has a hot and cold side to it. ONe where the lamp is and a deeper part of the water so he can cool off. Without knowing precisely what type of turtle you have, I can't help any more than that. Good luck.
  • The majority of turtles eat the general things, but with some reasearch done this was found: montgomery county turtles eat: insects, earthworms and fish. For the hours in the sun yes. It does good for a turtle to stay out and get some heat. But excessive solar radiation may make the turtle shed faster. So its not recommended for a long period of time.
