A person's legacy is the after-effects of their actions. These after-effects could be physical items they acquired and left to somebody else. But often the after-effects are more profound. The legacy of a wise and caring parent could be a well-rounded child who grows up to become highly successful and wise themselves. The legacy of an evil dictator could be an entire nation of people who are left traumatized, or it could be a formlerly prosperous country that now lives in poverty. Sometimes it also refers to the memories a peson evokes and his/her effect on culture. Despite all of the controversy, part of Michael Jackson's legacy is that the moonwalk. These are just a few examples.
