don't think he make it leg would wear down like a pencil. plus the leg would get wet at one point and crack or get stuck in the sand..hope he has that bottle of rum..

depends on how many times he had to stop to unscrew his leg to get the sand out!

Sounds like a continent he bumped into -- not an island! but I digress....I'd bet he be dead before completing that first 100 miles! How about mr. pirate unscrews that wooden leg and floats around the perimeter of the island or coastline (of the continent) looking for civilization first! Sure can't hurt.
