Over 700 indigenous Papuan languages are spoken in the country, but there are three official languages. English is one of them, but most people speak the creole language Tok Pisin. In the southern region of Papua, the third official language, Motu, is spoken.

There are over 700 native languages in Papua New Guinea. However for communication purposes, English, Tok Pisin, and Motu are often used. Tok Pisin is often used by the Highlands & New Guinea Islands regions. Whilst Motu is often used in the Northern & Southern regions of the country.
