  • Because some are just snobs
  • Because if you are not correct you are wrong lol.
  • I am as far from being politically correct as you can get. I don't care what the pin heads think of me. Political correctness is a way for pin heads to shame free thinkers into conforming to their beliefs. That and I just love to offend thin skinned people. I take great joy in that.
  • It depends on the circles you move in. http://www.violentacres.com/archives/116/im-sick-of-political-correctness http://pc-is-bs.com/political-correctness-is-bs/ http://www.blogcatalog.com/user/GoddessBellaDonna/favorites/tag/political+correctness+bs! "Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end." The populist authoritarianism that is the downside of political correctness means that anyone, sometimes it seems like everyone, can proclaim their grief and have it acknowledged. The victim culture, every sufferer grasping for their own Holocaust, ensures that anyone who feels offended can call for moderation, for dilution, and in the end, as is all too often the case, for censorship. And censorship, that by-product of fear - stemming as it does not from some positive agenda, but from the desire to escape our own terrors and superstitions by imposing them on others - must surely be resisted. ~Jonathon Green, "Did You Say 'Offensive?'," as posted on wordwizard.com
  • Because of militant thinking, mostly from the left. We've become a nation of over-sensitive wimps, wussies and outright PUSSIES! Everyone seems to forget that FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION IS A RIGHT! I may not like what someone has to say, but I'm also free to ignore them or walk away. If it becomes PHYSICAL, then by all means, I will defend myself.
  • Not always the case. I'm an ultra liberal with a very open mouth, and I frequently have people roll their eyes at me or say "Oh God"...if I express something that's clearly liberal...(even when speaking in what would be considered a very "politically correct" manner.
  • Why is anyone looked down upon for anything? If you step beyond the bounds of popular opinion, the cultural vultures swoop in. And if your question is serious, then surely you understand that to express negative ideas regarding certain identity groups is going to bring you a little grief. If you are speaking of the illusion some seem to operate under thinking that if one only uses the right words to convey what may be positive ideas towards these groups them i'm in some agreement of what seems to by your underlying premise... that enough is too much already. i'm sure you also know, at whatever age you might be, that we are all subject to criticism when we step beyond the bounds of conformity. It shouldn't worry anyone who knows his own real motives. i'm among a group of those who are "disabled" but couldn't care less what a person calls me, knowing full well that someone can use the right word and still have a nasty attitude. i can also be easily called "crippled" by one who's attitude is one of empathy and compassion. All societies set limits when something becomes out of hand. There is some good in the whole PC thing because the words we use often shape our thinking just as much as our thoughts determine the words we use. But on the surface it is hardly more meaningful than an admonishment to "be polite" which never did a thing to make anyone a better person or to address the underlying attitudes of what might or might not be "incorrect" thinking.
  • So many people can only look good or feel good about themselves by making you look bad, hence they end up dissing you.
  • Ironically in the U.S. of A., *freedom*. Or more specifically, fear of same. Lotsa folks seem truly threatened by someone who lives authentically and perhaps idiosyncratically. I dunno why.
  • Probably because politically incorrect is usually just incorrect. Just because many condemn it don't make it better. I don't think so many will look down on you, most people will just disapprove those views. But you find judgmental people everywhere.
  • Because many of the people who fight the hardest for political correctness themselves have never personally witnessed/experienced the mentioned stereotypes in action.
  • I'm rarely PC and often say incredibly offensive things just for the shock value. I also know no one who looks down on me. If they did, I'd just be in a perfect position for an uppercut...
  • I enjoy being seen as politically correct. It means that I can think for myself. Fortunately, I think that movement is dying down and will someday be seen as ridiculous and antiquated. Of course, I'm a "the glass is half full" kind of guy.
