- - - - There was a book ? I would have done both, just to 'see' the differences. One is usually better than the other, for various reasons.

The book won a Hugo award, and is definitely worth a read :)
-
Book -- definitely. The movie was fun to watch, but the idiot director clearly did not understand the material he was working with.
-
The book was superb. Although, I enjoyed the movie, too. The movie was campy - not true to the book, but still amusing.
-
Book was better. The movie is fun.

The book and the cartoons; That is what Mobile Infantry are about: The book is not time linear and starts with his making corporal when they hand him a launcher and 4 nukes and tell him not to bring any back. That is my kind of fire control doctrine! In the book the bugs are tool users and in the movie the fact that they are NOT is it's second biggest flaw. But biggest flaw of the movie is that they are NOT in the MAN Plus armor that IS MOBILE Infantry, they are lightly updated Inchon Marines The third biggest flaw is that you CAN'T Throw Rocks 60,000 light years in real time at sub light velocities. which is about the distance shown on the map in the movie. If the separation was more than 300 or 400 light years there would be no conflict.
