I don't like insects that bite or sting and my son is allergic to bees. I screened my back porch in for that very reason. It was impossible for me to enjoy being outside from April until October because of the d*mned mosquitos. And they now carry West Nile virus! They are a non-issue at my house now. My suggestion is to just use necessary precaution if you are going to be outside, be aware of your surroundings, and keep repellant with you.

Spray yourself with Deep Woods Off before you go out and if you plan to stay out any length of time bring it with you and re-spray. I hate biting bugs and have always had a problem where I can be with 15 other people that won't get bit, but I'll get chewed up by them. I've tried all kinds of things in the past, including the Avon Skin So Soft that everyone told me worked for them. For me, that was the only thing that really did.

I know how you feel. I am the same although I've got better. I'm ok now with bees, but wasps still freak me out. When my nephew was a toddler, I had to show no fear if anything came buzzing around me because I didn't want him to get frightened just because I was, so I just had to keep still till the bees or wasps went away (and they eventually do go away). I'm perfectly fine now with bees I don't mind them at all in fact I think they're kind of cute, but wasps I still don't like. I've found that wasps only fly around me when I've got a drink or sweet smelling perfume on. I'll just try to keep still or move my drink away, but I have to admit that I can't stand them and I could easily just freak out and start screaming and waving my arms around like a mad woman. I suppose you just have to think that the worst that can happen is that you get stung. I've been stung by both bees and wasps, wasps don't hurt that much, bee stings hurt like hell, but you are not very likely to be stung by either. Don't let your fear ruin your life, enjoy the outside and the sunshine. Have you thought about spraying yourself with insect repellant? This would stop them from flying around you.
