  • I ran Automatix (Ultamatix's predecessor) on Ubuntu 6.06 iirc, and it worked by fetching packages from a special repository (among other things ;). Assuming Ultamatix works the same way, then yes, you will need internet access for it to work. I just looked at the website, and the filesize is only 2MB, and I'm pretty sure that's not enough to encompass those 100+ packages ;^) It's a good idea, especially if you are new to Ubuntu, to not enable extra repositories that are not found in the "Software Sources" dialog. It's a security risk, and the packages sometimes conflict with Canonical's updates. I recommend not using Ultamatix / Automatix for these reasons, although I certainly can understand the temptation. If you don't have Internet access, then you can probably order a DVD from shipit.ubuntu.com or have a friend burn one for you with the universe / multiverse repositories on it.
