John Lennon was a musician and was in the Beatles. He was assinated by Mark David Chapman in 1979. Apparently, chapman who was a troubled lad had taken a fancy to the book Catcher in the Rye. He identified with the main character in the book "Holden Caulfield who thought most everyone was a phony. I guess to some degree, he might have been right about John lennon. You see, Lennon spoke of no possession, no religion and all that good stuff. But here he was, a man who was very wealthy from his music so I can understand from that viewpoint. This radical fanaticism ultimately led him to shoot Lennon.

You mean you don't know John Lennon and The Beatles ? Oh my ! They are the most famous band in the 60'-70'. The other member were Paul McCartney (bass guitar, vocals), George Harrison (lead guitar, vocals) and Ringo Starr (drums, vocals). Only Paul and Ringo is still around.

He and Paul McCartney started the Beatles with George Harrison and Ringo Starr (actually, they started with Pete Best as drummer, but he didn't want to tour, I believe, as they did.) They set many records in the 60s with the number of hits (I believe at one time, they had the top FIVE hits on Billboards top 100), the number of fans, etc. They made 3-4 movies, most making fun of themselves and their popularity. Oh, heck. Look it up on Google. Wikipedia probably has a pretty damn good article on THEM and each member. He was shot in New York outside of his hotel residence by Mark David Chapman. The news was reported on Monday Night Football by Howard Cosell, I believe. I was watching at a friend's, and we held each other for some time. BTW: Check YouTube for the Beatles, for John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Star. ALL were, and Paul and Ringo still ARE great.
