Why cotton poly blend? why not just cotton?

Polyester is cheaper to produce than cotton.

If it makes to much sense, don't do it. That's the American way. Making things harder than it would be. Thats Patriotism.

Because the blend combines the desirable characteristics of both types of material. For example, cotton "breathes" well, but holds wrinkles a LOT. Poly doesn't hold wrinkles nearly as badly and changes the texture of the blend so it feels different. Also, poly doesn't stain like cotton does, and a blend may have some durability advantages over 100% cotton.
