Expensive ones bought on clearance, like a lot of the stuff I own.

Expensive chef knives is what we have. Set of 6 cost us the equivalent of about $1100-00

Cheap. I mean, they weren't THAT cheap when we first got them but now they'd be worth practically nothing...only like 50 cents or something. Still, we are saving money by not buying anymore. They still work.

Both. I have 10 Shun's and 8 Henckel's, as well as a sushi knife from Japan. And I've a few from here and there. 32 in all, but I'll get more.

I have a set of Wustof Trident knives I got in college. They were a little dear but they have lasted.

Cheap ones do the trick for me.

Expensive - Henkel's. They are fabulous. Nothing worse that a bad knife.

The ones I use are cheap. I do own a very good set, but they are still new in the package.

At work I use great, high dollar, well sharpened and taken care of knives. At home I am lucky to cut warm butter with the cheap junk I own.

Imported Global Professional from Japan. Got 6 of them for $700 12 years ago. They are still razor sharp.
