• You can check anywhere you like but it's not illegal anywhere. I've had police even tell me it is but they can't site where because ti's not there. The Barefoot Society has tried to make it known that there are no laws "against" driving barefoot anywhere in the USA, including territories.

• I appreciate your answer and have always adored the barefoot society. I'm a foot massager and often times a toe sucker but please do know that barefoot driving is unsafe.

• I am not sure that it is any more unsafe as I see no reason for it to be. I've had more problems with shoes getting caught and rubbing than with good firm contact with the pedal when I can actually fell it. I rarely drive in bare feet but my mother always did and she never had one problem. Police friends I have talked to about it can't think of any logical reason why it would be unsafe when I bring it up. It's the same with laws that state that it is illegal to go barefoot in businesses, that it is unsafe somehow, like in a restaurant, there are no health codes anywhere against it as there are no reasons it is unsafe. It just sounds like it should be.

• My miliatry experience explanation. While driving whether on a city street or rough terrain, you suddenly must slam on the brakes. Your barefoot slapping against the brake pedal which could be hot, have a burr on it, have a scorpion on it, have a teeny weeny splinter on it or have nothing at all on it and is just a hard surface, the split second your foot comes in contact you have a natural impulse to jerk your foot away from the pedal and that is the split second you are in harms way.
