  • I believe the world itself ... but The official capital of Cote d'Ivoire in Yamoussoukro is the home to the world's largest church. The Basilica of Our Lady of Peace was constructed in 1989 and has seating for 18,000 parishioners.   • this isn't exactly the answer to your question, but, in medieval times, the largest church was the Hagia Sophia (Holy Wisdom) in Constantinople. After the Muslim occupation, it was turned into a mosque, but its mosaics were never destroyed. Now it has been restored, but as a museum. the Turks will not let it be used as a church again.
