I don't remember the chips...but I remember going to the corner store and buying a coke for 6 cents and a package of cigarettes for my dad (33 cents).

I remember 10 cent Coke machines. They were refrigerated chests where you had to slide your glass bottle through a maze to get it over to the dispensing point. Opener on the front of the machine. In highschool, lunch would frequently be a 15 cent cup of post-mix pop and everything out of the "food" machine was 15 or 25 cents.

Let's see, chips were always 25 cents when I was young and a can of soda was like 50-75 cents. so either .75 to 1.00 was the cost.

in the uk chips 15p fizzy drink 10p back in the early 1980s so cheap £1 went a long way 25+ years ago
