Of course. Many cases might not have been solved had it not been for collecting this evidence. The mysteries that I've seen on t.v. in most cases where they did this has been because they had other evidence that pointed to the suspect. The DNA was the evidence that sealed the investigators suspicions.

Are you referring to the method of collecting it when anyone discards anything? Anyway if the person isn't guilty they have nothing to fear. Right?
