  • Because if the one sitting in the exit row lives when everybody else dies, they want money for it.
  • There is significantly more leg room in those seats.
  • they want their own space and they want to get out of there once the plane lands
  • Because they have far more leg room. I always get the exit row seats as i am 6ft3 but i have never had to pay extra for them here in Australia.
  • Simple economics, they are in bigger demand.
  • We fly ALOT and we have NEVER paid more for the exit row. Unless things have changed, you can not reserve a seat in an exit row. It has to be assisgned to you at the airport once they have looked at you to make sure you are not too young, too old or otherwise physically incapable of operating the emergency door. We always pay the lowest, most bargain fares, get to the airport early and request the exit row. Unless someone has gotten to it before us, we always get it. I have, a couple of times, seen people mistakenly assigned to that row (and they have been asked to move when it is obvious they can not meet the neccesary criteria). ** Just curious - Where did you get the information that airlines charge more for these seats? **
  • I never knew that there was an extra charge for this. I don't think most airlines charge more to sit on the exit row. Mostly, the price of your ticket will depend on when you purchased them. Airlines offer different fares based on restrictions, time/day of travel, and when purchased. The fact is, the person sitting on your left could have paid less than you have and conversly, the person on your right could have paid more than you. I don't think it makes any difference which row you're at (excluding 1st class).
