  • Where I live it's not really hard to find a family doctor, especially if the doctor is still accepting patients or you got a family referral. The bigger problem is finding a GOOD family doctor, as most physicians we've encountered are either lousy or jerks or both.
  • We seem to be spoiled for choice where I am. While there is a medical centre just around the corner from home (3 minutes walk), I'm a creature of habit and tend to stay where I've come to know the Drs over the years ~ only 10-15 minutes away ~ where there are at least 6 GPs there, so if your particular one is away, you can always see one of the others. Having had to see one of those others a year or so ago, I've taken the plunge and decided to change to her permanently. There's another med centre at our local shopping centre, along with others reasonably close including afterhours clinics, a public hospital, and another emergency clinic so there does really seem to be an abundance. Recent changes to consultations have also made it more reasonable to visit our Doctors rather than putting it off because of cost.
  • I have a family doctor who used to be really good but now he doesn't care as much as he used to. However he is better than any other doctor in this area and any other doctor within a 2 hour drive. The ones that are better won't take my insurance so I guess the answer is yes. i am finding it hard to find competant caring doctor that will take me and my insurance
