SMOKERS: Would you still smoke if cigarettes costed $10 a pack?? Or would you just quit?

In the UK cigarettes are somewhere in the region of ten dollars a pack - although I don't smoke, I don't know anyone who has given up because of the price. UK cigarettes also have very harsh and frank warnings - photographs on the pack - of cancerous lungs, infections caused by smoking ec etc, to try and deter smokers. It doesn't work. Smoking is now banned in all public places, however, and that seems to have made a difference.

For MOST smoker ; it won't matter what the price ... They are addicted to that Nicotine and they just are not going to STOP . Recently; Ohio has banned Smoking in it's prisons ... and I hear that prisoners and guards / staff alike are about to go NUTZ ... Personally; I do NOT smoke .... Thank heavens ... can't imagine doing that horrible habit and ruining my body even MORE.

I would probably continue smoking, and then I would be broke most of the time, which would cause me to want to smoke even more. Fuck, at least someone is making money.

I'm already paying $6.00 dollars for a pack but If cigatettes went up $10.00 dollars a pack then I would quit.

People here get carried away about how smokers are worse than child molesters, but we pay one crap load of taxes you non-smokers don't pay. I imagine I'll just keep smoking. Life isn't that great, why not have a fail-safe way out of it.

Wanted to quit before they went up.With both of us smoking,it was already way too expensive even getting the cheaper brand in bulk.It`s a habit alright,but it must also be an addiction.Because what is the point?Really nothing good about it.Long list of bad.So why,even while I am still smoking do I get this bad feeling knowing that it will soon be gone and I will have to try to wait as long as posible before I can have another?How do you quit?If none of the aids work.And just cutting it in half drives u nuts?..But hate the feeling of being forced to quit by hi taxes.Does make it harder to quit.But how do u quit?

There's always money for cigs. Have you not noticed the poorest people are the ones with alcohol/drug issues. There might not be money for rent, but there's money for drugs.
