Most important is to make sure it's airtight. If you have a large quantity, take out enough for a few days and put in a working container-don't keep opening the large one. The problem with the fridge or freezer is that you will often get moisture condensing on the cold, dry coffee when you open it. If you use my 2 container system, by all means put the large one in the fridge, but allow it to warm up before opening.

I store mine in a glass container as it say not to put in the frig.

They suggest that you do not keep it in a cold environment. You don't want it absorbing moisture when you pull it out of the cold. It should be kept at room temp in an airtight container.
-
In the refrigerator in a sealed or tightly covered container.

Ground should be in a sealed container at dry room temperature, an amount that you are going to use quickly. Long term like several weeks or months long, you can keep it in the freezer but it's best as whole beans. Ground coffee is only good for 3-4 weeks in the freezer. But you should only take out the amount you will use to fill up your room temperature container for daily use. Don't keep opening it up and allowing air and moisture to form. That will degrade coffee really quick.
