  • Don't worry! Spiders as big as Ireland are extremely rare there. You will hardly see any.
  • Yes & yes, my dad lives in Nigeria & travels the region, apparantly there's a nasty one that lays it's eggs under your skin while you sleep.
  • Here's a traveler's review from a Serengeti Tented Camp - Ikoma Bush Camp: http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g293751-d632328-r20126487-Serengeti_Tented_Camp_Ikoma_Bush_Camp-Serengeti_National_Park.html Here's a search for spiders in Africa: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&num=20&q=spiders+africa&btnG=Search You can refine it to just the venomous spiders in of Africa: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&safe=off&num=20&q=venomous+spiders+africa&btnG=Search But I wouldn't worry about spiders. Africa has so many other dangerous animals you'll forget about the spiders. :)
  • Rwanda is still a very violent and dangerous country. Spiders are the least of your problems. Before I travel abroad I always check out these sites: http://www.fco.gov.uk/en/travelling-and-living-overseas/travel-advice-by-country/sub-saharan-africa/rwanda https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/rw.html
  • You're going to Rwanda and you're worried about the spiders????
  • well here in Ireland our scary daddy long legs is apparently actually really posionious but it just cant release it! i'd say they're huge in comparison yuck yuck yuck! but honesly i'd say spiders would be the lease of ur worries in Rwanda
  • I just returned from South Africa and have some photos of massive spiders but I was told that they are basically "harmless". I don't think that any spider is harmless and would take necessary precautions.
  • Ok I'll keep that in mind! I'm going with a volunteer group, so I don't know yet what the accommodation will be like (I'm not expecting much!) but I would generally run from any snake, just in case!
  • they are huge, and they have huge cockroaches.
