  • Because much of the country is located within the delta (flood plain) of the mighty Irawaddy River. The land is low and prone to flooding. But there is no where else people can live., sadly.
  • The infrastructure is also really bad, so when floods do happen, they're hugely destructive.
  • Lots & lots of water!
  • Poverty, Ellei. I live in a country that's for 40 % below sea level (The Netherlands) and our last flood was in the 1950's. Since then, billions have been spent on dikes, sluices, dams, drainage systems etc. Bangla Desh doesn't have these funds, or priorities. They do have a rain season. And all of us have a climate problem.
