You must be kidding!!! To hell with the ring you are supposed to be focused on the love you have for the guy.
The ring is supposed to be just a symbol of his love for you, what has price got to do with it. OMG I just don't understand what most people think real love is anymore.

I would be in hot water if I bought an engagment ring!
I don't think that's a question I can answer. $5K could be insulting to some women (too much or too little) depending on the circumstances of the couple.
