The Mahabharata, one of the Indian epics. Wikipedia says: With more than 74,000 verses, long prose passages, and about 1.8 million words in total, the MahÄbhÄrata is one of the longest epic poems in the world. [4] It is roughly ten times the size of the Iliad and Odyssey combined[5], roughly five times longer than Dante's Divine Comedy, and about four times the size of the Ramayana. Including the Harivaṃśa, the Mahabharata has a total length of more than 90,000 verses. = The Mahabharata tells the story of a war between two parts of a royal family, the Pandavas and the Kaurawas. It is probably based on a real civil war that occurred just before written history in India. The Mahabharata was written down between the 8th and the 4th centuries BC.

Not entirely sure, but it has to be something like The Iliad, The Odyssey - both by Homer, or The Divine Comedy (which is made up of Inferno, Purgatory and Paradise, the 3 poems by Dante... is that cheating?)

I don't really think it's the longest but The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere by Henry Wadworth Longfellow was really hard to memorize for extra credit in the sixth Grade
